The Perfect Base:
It is important in any makeup application to always begin by spending time preparing the face as well as perfecting your skin texture. It is important when applying bold colors, especially pure minerals, that the skin texture be flawless and tone perfected. Any time you are applying heavy makeup on your eyes your lip color should be left neutral and eyebrows perfectly groomed.
Choosing your Color:
Eyeshadow is a great outlet for expressing your mood and personality so keep that in mind as you look at colors. A good place to start when looking to choose new eyeshadow colors is to look at the colors in your irises. It is recommended that you not use a color that exactly matches your eye since that will cause your eye color to wash out. Instead look for different color in the flecks of your eye. For example, someone with blue eyes might have smoky gray, gold, green, lavenderor turquoise flecks. |
Brown eyes may have gold or green flecks, and green and hazel irises might have pale gray, turquoise, gold or dark brown flecks. Take advantage of these colors to bring out the color in your eyes.
If you are looking to match your eyeshadow to your outfit our makeup expert Chris Kane, for Makeupart.net, says "If you are looking for a color to also compliment your outfit, and your outfit has three colors, choose one color of eye shade to complement or accent. Take the edge off the eye shadow by mixing it with a softer color."
More Tips:
• A matte finish is great to achieve a classic look but don't be afraid to add subtle shimmer for a special occasion.
• Opt for a silky, smooth shadow that blends easily. Avoid dry, grainy shadows and choose colors that blend well together.
• Remember that the more pigment in the shadow, the darker the color. If you've applied

several layers and the color still isn't the intensity you want, then you haven't applied enough pigment. Our pressed mineral eyeshadows contain professional pure pigments wich are the best in the world.
• Keep in mind that if you have a pale skin tones dark shades may be too intense. For darker skins rich deep shades work great.
• Note that shimmer eye shadow (which contains mica) may cause redness or irritation for contact lens wearers or those with sensitive eyes. We recommend you keep shimmer subtle since shiny textures will accentuate imperfections.
• Use one color, or two maximum as your main colors. Make sure that the colors you choose blend well together. We recommend pressed mineral eyeshadows.
• For small eyes the use of light shadows will help to open up your eyes.
• If upper lids look "hooded" due to age, use a light touch of shadow. We recommend professional pure pigments or color tones.
